Privacy policy

Your data

MaruReader does not collect personal data and does not include analytics or tracking services. Your data stays on your device by default. Dictionary lookup and text recognition are processed locally on your device.

Dictionary updates

If you use the dictionary update function, a network request is sent to the update URL defined in the dictionary’s manifest, if one is provided. The update server’s operator can see your IP address and know that you are using MaruReader with that dictionary.

Custom audio and Anki-Connect

If you configure a network audio source or Anki-Connect, dictionary search queries or Anki notes may be sent to the services you configure. To protect your privacy, use these features only with your own servers. Use HTTPS with Anki-Connect, even on a local network, to protect data in transit.
